I have very high standards as regards performance at My company and, you will not be surprised to learn, I expect the same from all My employees. I have therefore summoned you to My office, as I am not at all happy to read about the drop in standards outlined by your managers in your recent performance review.

In My view, the correct and only course of action is instant dismissal, and I intend to lay out My reasoning to you.

you are horrified as you listen to Me explain precisely why I think you should be dismissed. you plead that you will do anything to avoid losing your job.

I am hesitant, as the decline in your standards has been dramatic. If I decide on an alternative to dismissal, it will involve severe corporal punishment, delivered entirely as I see fit, and certainly more than a quick six of the best you might have once received at school. you will be left in no doubt that I will deal with you most severely until I am satisfied your performance will improve.

From this point on, I will be personally monitoring your conduct.
